Girls Traveling Tornadoes Basketball Association - Letters to the League The GTTBA board members, coaches, players and parents appreciate your emails. We are pleased if you enjoy the game of basketball and the sportsmanship of our teams. Your words of encouragement and appreciation add fuel to our efforts. We are proud to say that these emails are all real but we do not have the permission to disclose their full name and address details so we will provide a short description. Please keep your emails coming in to the GTTBA president at president@anokatravelingbasketball.com Please note we reserve the right to edit any email that we post. Email received November 17, 2009 Hello, I am a parent of a North St. Paul 8th grade player. Your team just won our tournament this past weekend, winning every game by a wide margin. In facing Anoka, our girls were clearly overmatched. I believe we were down 20-0 in the first quarter and ended up losing by an even larger margin. While your players certainly had every opportunity to rub it in so-to-speak, they instead acted with class and sportsmanship. Afterwards, our players commented that some of the Anoka girls actually offered encouraging words during the game, like "nice shot", when we scored. In these days of "trash talking" and "show-boating", this sort of good behavior sadly doesn't happen very often anymore. I just wanted to pass along my appreciation and admiration for the class and sportsmanship shown by your team. Please let them know that their actions did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by their opponents. You guys are winners in the true sense of the word. I wish you continued success this year. Sincerely, A North St. Paul parent Email received February 12, 2009 Hi, I am a parent of a Lakeville South 7A player. We have played the Anoka Tornadoes 7A team several times this season. We played a game last weekend in Owatonna against your 7A team and came out on the losing end. As President of your association, I just wanted you to know that the way your 7A team and coaches conduct themselves is remarkable. The 7A group of girls are very talented and certainly seem to get the best of us when we meet, however the sportsmanship shown by this team should be commended. The girls do not play dirty on the court, ever. They use their talent, hard work and determination to accomplish their goals. They have an obvious cohesiveness between the girls that I have noticed on a number of occasions. I thought it was important to pass this along to you. I do not see the 7A coach's name listed on your website, but would like to send him an e-mail complimenting his style as well as his ability to bring the best out of his team of 7A girls. We think you are fortunate to have this level of coaching available for your girls. Congratulations on winning that tournament! Kelli - Lakeville South Parent Email received February 10, 2009 Hello, Hello, I'm the coach of NRHEG. I am retired varsity girls coach that took on a bunch of 3rd graders(including my daughter of course) 4 years ago and ended up following them through. Hats off to you and your 7th grade girls basketball team. Thanks for a class act from you coaches and your girls. I have to admit that this was the first game that anyone has gotten within 20 points of us. We have been in some 8th grade tournys as well. This helped us find some things we need to work on. You guys were just too deep for us. Looks like you have quality program there and put a lot of energy and pride in it. I enjoy your website. Great job promoting girls basketball! For better basketball Sincerely, John |
